The 24h Play Festival in 2009 was a great success and we are eager to create another night to remember. Come out and play!
Here’s a rough rundown of the schedule:
All participants gather on Friday night (Jan 14th). The writers are given random qualifiers that serve as inspiration and must be integral to their plays. For example: a setting/time period, a quirky character, and a random prop/costume. A play could be about a spaghetti emergency in the White house or Facebook in the middle ages. Once they know what their play will be about they brainstorm with their assigned actors and directors. Afterwards we all go home for a good night’s rest and beauty sleep! (Writers go all night on inspiration and lots of caffeine!)
The writers hand in their scripts at 10 am on Saturday (April 18th). At 11 am, everyone will get their scripts and start rehearsing. Each play will have a director that will guide, support, assist and bust their butts, with love and care, to memorize their lines, remember all their cues, blocking, etc. before the curtain goes up at 8 o’clock sharp that same night!!
We’re going for light comedies with a touch of melodrama and absurdity.
No dark, abstract dramas thank you!
If you would like to take part in this extreme kind of silliness or are just plain curious and would like to know more please contact Josh Myers at tai1josh@yahoo.com or Cathy Wilson at chameleon2005@gmail.com
