favorite vegetarian/vegan places in taichung?

obviously, this isn't meant for everyone, but I was wondering if anyone knows of some good vegetarian (vegan places would be better) places in taichung that you frequent. I don't speak chinese, but i can always grab a menu and get it translated. we live over off of beitun, but would be willing to drive anywhere. we eat a lot at thai yun, the japanese place next to it, and at some of the indian places, but we're always looking for more.

The food is delicious, if you like spicy, you have to try 辣太極 la4 tai4ji2 （black and white 木耳 mu4 er3）.

They don't accept reservations, and as the place is small and popular, it is advisable to arrive there early, or wait.

I've been to a vegetarian buffet near the Taichung Art Museum. It has a wonderful selection and ordering is not an issue since it is a buffet. I think lunch was about 300 NT per person. It's highly visible from the street as it is a fairly large long and narrow shaped single floor building. Its on the corner of W. Wuquan Road and Meicun Road.

I'd like to find more places? Anyone else know of a good vegetarian place in Taichung?

I know at least 5 on Zhong Xing Rd in South Taichung. The best is possibly on the Corner of Guo Quang and Zhong Xing. Very tasty and very friendly & efficient service. Gets busy at peak times so you might be unable to find a seat. http://goo.gl/maps/LUcoh

Check out this chain of vege restaurants but definately go to the best one (IMHO) nr. YiZhong. They open at breakfast, but stay opened till 8PM. Have nice sub sandwiches, and I do like their rice, though not sure how to call it.

Quite cheap too... not oily like some vegetarian food, very fresh, and you can really taste the veggies in it!

Taichung is the one city that has an unusual amount of high end vegetarian places out of other majors cities in Taiwan. I always wonder why there are so many french fusion styled vegetarian places in Taichung and not anywhere else. Most of the places I know have already been mentioned. The one near the science museum stood out to me as well.

There are cheaper options of course, more Taiwanese styled... but it has been a while since I've been to Taichung...
