Taiwan has always had one law for the big players and the small players. The economy of Taichung is largely controlled by mafia anyway, I think that's obvious, but just like in Las Vegas they moved into more legitimate enterprises enterprises.

I heard they want to move all the bars and nightlife to a specifically zoned area in the south. It's OK, the music was crappy anyway. Give the Taichung government a break. They had Lady Gaga play here :roll:

No, I don't think they need a break. The places they're closing down posed minimal risk.

And bringing the Crack Whore to town doesn't make up for closing down 200 joints.
