Married guys conscripted = less time?

Does anyone know if married guys, when drafted, have to make the whole term or get a shorter term? I think I had read somewhere that it was so, but I am not sure. A friend's hubby is choosing full military service -not alternative one- and I was hoping that it could be welcome news -they have a business to run/family to take care of - so the shorter time the better.
