ugh.. I thought I had everything figured out but think I miscalculated:
1) born in 1975
2) lived in USA for more than 4 years before the age of 15 (need this to apply for overseas stamp)
3) obtained my ROC passport / ARC through direct lineal relation in 2004
4) Used ARC to live continuously from 2004 - 2008
5) applied for permanent residency and established initial household registration in 2008 April
6) Currently applying for my overseas compatriot stamp on my ROC passport...
I think my miscalculation was at step 4. Since I saw that I get conscripted only after I apply for permanent residency / establish initial household registration after 1 year. I thought that the time living in Taiwan with ARC was not accounted for so I lived in Taiwan continuously without leaving the country. So now I'm waiting to process my overseas compatriot stamp.. but I think I may have overstayed during my ARC period so will I be restricted from leaving the country now and wait 1 year later to get conscripted for sure?
I was planning on getting the overseas stamp and then leave every 4 months.
