I want my future child to be Taiwanese, how?

Postby guni » 26 Apr 2011, 14:48

Hi all,

I'm an overseas Taiwanese and currently hold an Indonesian citizenship, for the last 10 years, my family was trying to apply for Taiwan citizenship.
My great grandfather was Taiwanese (he had Jin Men ID card), but my grandfather and my father was born in Indonesia so they automatically have the Indonesian citizenship.

Unfortunately, we don't have any physical proof that my great grandpops was Taiwanese (because it got burned during the accident), the only proof that we have is our neighbors in Jin Men whose can proof that my grandpops is Taiwanese.

So... to cut thing short, me and my wife is planning to give birth to our future child in Jin Men and would like to ask for advice if it's possible for us as foreigners to give birth there or any other places in Taiwan? What kind of permit do we needed?

Thank you before.

Taiwan has no birthright. So that means a child born in Taiwan of both parents who hold no Taiwan citizenship will not be able to claim Taiwan citizenship.
