There's nothing quite as nice as an all boiled dinner with some good mustard and pickle and nice ale on a cold, damp winter evening......except maybe a charcrut.
Pleasant it is, when over a great sea the winds trouble the waters, to gaze from shore upon another's great tribulation

Boiled dinner is considerably different from people thronging to sit around and simmer the flavour and colour out of kitchen trimmings in weak broth.

You guys just eat your shabu shabu stuff boiled in like, water? Like, dip, boil, eat? Ew. No wonder you don't like it.

The smarter gender knows about different soup bases to use ie. mala or satay or cilantro and the different dipping sauce combos.

EYE would never just cook hot pot stuff in hot water and eat it plain. That's just weird. :loco:

True. Every woman's sauce is as individual as her fingerprint.

... which was what I was brought up on.

I've actually found Oxford's Chinese eateries. The problem is now to find a bunch of gurls, I can go and talk to and boil shit with.

Had a conversation with the missus last night about missing man tou. Can't find them in Oz.

Caught her looking at the recipe later in the evening. :discodance:

We do get a few things imported from Tw, but it is funny the things you miss. We've yet to experience a decent Tw meal here. It's strange that the best double fried pork belly came from a tapas bar in St Kilda. But then again I think that dish is from the mainland.

It was pretty cold today I got a headache from walking to the mailbox. It's days like these that I wish I could be eating boiled shit with someone. I thought about you, Buttercup, and if you fly over here we can dine on boiled shit together in the many Asian restaurants here.

Sigh...

I know man. We are even going to get snow on the Berkeley hills saturday night (if it rains of course). For the first time this winter I caught myself shivering as I was walking to one of my fav restaurants tonite in berkeley. Wool coat but still shivering.

I knew something was up when my heater in my car couldnt keep the heat!! I knew it had to be a bitch out there.

Tomorrow IM wearing my ski parka.

p.s. Gee you should feel that gust of wind just now. Supposed to get to mid 30s , that is just above 0 centigrade tonite.

Warm and toasty inside my apt though with the heat set to 24c :)

I miss HongYoXiaoXou, Stinky pot, stinky tofu, hot pot, shabu shabu, won ton soup, almond tofu, about 100 types of tofu, luwei, that amazing dumpling house between Dunhua and City Hall station, the fruit (American fruit sucks), the veggies, that awesome bbq in the neighborhood across from 101.

I miss a ton of it.
