Cheapest way to transport stuff to UK

It was surface, came in at Portsmouth I think. Delivered to the door by UK firm (obviously). I've asked the wife for details of the shippers.

Our cardboard boxes were bought at the post office and had a 30kg limit. It was something like $30,000 for ten of them and two boxed bikes.

The inevitable one more box of stuff that accumulated post event went in the same type of box but by Post Office air freight with a limit of maybe 20kg, for about $5000.

So has anyone found a cheap way to send things back to the UK?

I was quoted TWD 3600 for a 14kg box. Is there anything cheaper?

was that 3600 offer from the PO? (seems pretty reasonable)

Yeah from the Post Office. Just personal belongings, doesn't really need to get home quickly... Surface mail would be fine if it was available. But it's not.

But I thought the PO wasn't sending by surface anymore. Or are you guys talking by air...???

The last I heard, the only UK port that was handling (non-commercial) surface shipments closed down or stopped providing the necessary services, about two years ago I think. However, I do know someone who sent about 60kg of stuff to England (two large boxes) recently and paid about NT$6000, ordinary Post Office air freight, which seemed very reasonable to me.

these guys sorted us out ok, once you've resolved to send one box though you end up sending several further boxes of her shoes etc.
