A friend in Kaohsiung has come by 30 copies of Elegy of Sweet Potatoes -- Stories of Taiwan's White Terror, and wants to sell them. They came from a paper recycler and are as good as new, he says. He's not on forumosa.com; if anyone would like a copy (he talking about NT$150 per copy) please pm me.

I've read it, too, and can likewise recommend it.
If I prioritized the acquisition of wealth above other purposes in life, I might still have come to Taiwan to study Chinese, but I doubt I would have remained here.
