Postby StevenCrook » 08 May 2012, 14:28

A friend in Kaohsiung has come by 30 copies of Elegy of Sweet Potatoes -- Stories of Taiwan's White Terror, and wants to sell them. They came from a paper recycler and are as good as new, he says. He's not on forumosa.com; if anyone would like a copy (he talking about NT$150 per copy) please pm me.

You can find a review here: Recollections of the White Terror.

In case you're wondering, it's pure coincidence that I posted the message above at 2.28pm.

Hi Steven,

Is the book in the original Chinese or is it a translation?
I always wanted to be somebody, but now I realize I should have been more specific.

The book is in English. I've read it and can recommend it to anyone interested in Taiwan history.

I've read it, too, and can likewise recommend it.
If I prioritized the acquisition of wealth above other purposes in life, I might still have come to Taiwan to study Chinese, but I doubt I would have remained here.
