KMT owed money to Mao Zedong

KMT owed money to Mao Zedong

Postby history_nerd » 09 Jul 2012, 02:32

The Kuomintang (KMT) once owed former Communist Chinese leader Mao Zedong several paychecks as he had been a KMT official, historical documents have revealed. The records prove that Mao was not only a KMT member but was also on the party's payroll, working as a secretary of the department of organization at the party's Shanghai branch.

Pretty interesting, it says that the pay stub is on display at the KMT HQ in Taipei. The article also mentions a KMT archive in Taiwan. Where is that?

It's well-known that Mao worked for the KMT. It was from the Guomindang that he learned the importance of propaganda. Like many Chinese, Mao was a supporter of Sun Yat-sen.

When Mao was employed with the KMT, it was the early days of the United Front. But Chiang used the communists; after the Northern Expedition, he turned on the reds. Mao fled, etc.

Not sure where the KMT archives are, but perhaps they're in the Bade building in Taipei, in the KMT headquarters?

Well, a cynic might say the KMT are busily paying back his kin right now, factoring in inflation, etc!

Typical... your employer misses two or three paychecks, you orchestrate a revolution and seize power in your country. I don't know why I didn't think about that earlier... :roflmao:
