Taize service

Taize service

Postby diegothedreadful » 05 Dec 2009, 12:02

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone knows if there are Taize services held anywhere in Taipei. I searched and saw that someone mentioned in another thread a once-monthly service; I'd appreciate a bit more info about this or any other group.

Aurora Center
No. 9, Lane 79
Hang Chow S. Road Sec. 1
Taipei

I'll try to dig up meeting times. (Funny, the French Taize site doesn't have this.)

I went there once. Kind of boring, I'm afraid. Part of Taize's appeal elsewhere is its ecumenicalism, but the group at Aurora is pure Catholic. (They even had a priest come in right at the end to start mass.) Another part is their particular style of chant (they use a songbook), but it didn't work so well in real life IMHO.

I'm no psychologist, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that a guy who calls himself King James and has his initials and "Vivat Rex" -- Latin for "Long live the king" -- on his custom-made Nike jacket, and has CHOSEN 1 tattooed across his back and WITNESS tattooed on one calf and HISTORY on the other calf might have a big ego. It is an ego borne of insecurity, and this is why he left for Miami in the first place: He wanted things to be easier. He wanted Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh at his side and South Beach a short drive away. That is the fundamental disconnect between James and Cleveland fans. They gave up on easy a long time ago.
