Do you hide your religion?

I'm from a minority religion. I'm Jewish. Actually a pretty open minded pork eating Jew with a Buddhist family. Here in Taiwan we can have families with member from different religions all living in harmony.

Normally I would not mind. But here where I live we have a ton of Muslim laborers. Hallah shops are popping up every where. I've been here a while and I miss some of my traditions. I finally put up a Menorah for Hanuka. I'm on a back street where not many strangers go so I am not too worried. But when my students' parents ask me What is this? I just tell them it's some obscure American Christian tradition.
When I say it some American tradition.... they cut me off by saying Ok Ok.. so no problems. ..

Just wondering. Am I being paranoid?

(PS: Before you say.. What are you bringing your menorah to school with you... The school is my home. At least the the top two floors are.)

To answer your question: No, I don't hide my religion. I am a Christian. At work you will find a Bible on my desk. I wear a cross around my neck and if people ask me how I deal with problem, my answer is "First of all I pray". Why would you want to hide your religion?

I think so, but I'd have to listen to the recording again to check. It may be permanent residents and citizens although he talked a lot about Thai and Indonesian workers.

I don't hide it, but I don't wear it on my sleeve on a daily basis, shove it down anyone else's throat, or try to convert people, either. Also, I respect all other religions as well as non-religions, too. Stay tuned for my animated Christmas tree avatar on Christmas Day!

No. Nor do I advertise. Same reason here, as at home.

I got a thing hanging around my neck, I read the Tanakh on the MRT, and I have an exploding menorah in my front window.
I've never gotten any guff about it in Taiwan.

Yeah.... I don't advertise it either.. But I got the nose. A menorah is a pretty big advertisement. I'm not afraid of Christians. They don't have religious orders to do away with Jews anywhere they can find them.

Muslims... here are fishermen, day la. borers and housekeepers.

I was in the park during the day taking care of my kids and a lady approached me. She was watching her boss's kids. Told me how disgusting pork is and she did not like being forced to eat it. I just put a surprised and concerned look on my face and said, why?

She asked me about myself, I said.. just kind of Buddhist..

I'll rephrase. Should I keep my makeshift menorah up or put it it apart. Should I tell what it's about if asked.
