dizzyhytes, I live right across the river from you in Yonghe. I typically get on the riverside bike path to get to places south of the city, either in the Xindian/Wulai direction or the Muzha/Shiding/Pingxi/Pinglin direction. PM me if you want the details or want to head out with me (I think those 7AM meetups in Tianmu are way too early as well.)

thanks for all the great tips guys,

I 'm actually suffering from a knee injury at the moment, so it might be a while before I'm back on road again, but will hopefully try to make some contacts once I'm up and running again.
