anyone interested in living and training together in kung fu and tai chi?

While Taiwan is home to some fantastic martial arts traditions, newer and less traditional martial arts are also growing strong. From tai chi chuan to Brazilian jujitsu, this is the forum for fighters!

anyone interested in living and training together in kung fu and tai chi?

I'm renting a house in Taichung, WuRi district, and I'm actually looking for a couple of people who would be interested in living together and training in 8 Step Praying Mantis kung fu and tai chi.

I also have a good friend who can come to the house and teach Chinese.

I hope to create a positive community environment that also helps support my passion for kung fu as well as develops me as a better martial artist - by making the house in which I live more focused upon, and therefore more conducive to, training and martial arts discourse.

I am not trying to make money! We just need to share in the rent. I've learned a lot, but in order to cultivate REAL understanding and ability, I need lots of practice and training with other friends who are also passionate about kung fu.

8 Step Praying Mantis has been my focus for more than a decade. I love this style as it is traditional kung fu with incredible depth, and not just fluffy dance forms - it incorporates body conditioning and endurance training, suai jiao fa (throwing methods and training), fa jing (power generation), chin na fa (joint lock methods and training), qi gong, meditation, tons of forms and techniques with applications, all steeped in theory. The theory to me is most important as it should, if it properly understood, show how all martial arts works. There is also martial arts medicine or healing arts, of which I am just a student and not a practitioner.

JJ40-
See my post dated March 6, 2012 in the Martial Arts section. If you have a genuine interest in martial arts and the culture, history etc. of same you might enjoy visiting and talking to Master Ho. He does not have a "school" per se - but I don't think you will run across any better or truer teachers of the craft. PM if you have an interest. I also have a friend in Taichung (an American student of Master Ho) who trains regularly in Taichung who might be interested in an additional training partner.

Timabee,

Yes I saw your March 6th post. It definitely caught my interest. I would like to know more. I'll send you a PM.

but I'm also looking for roommates who want to focus on training. the Grandmaster of 8 Step Praying Mantis is also incredibly knowledgeable. In fact, I really love 8 Step, and its theory runs deep. the difficulty is in finding people to train with.
