Please check your spelling, because someone may do a text search for your information, e.g. if someone searches for information on Xizhi and you have spelled it She Jher, they won't find it. Someone spelled camping as "campin" without a g at the end - again, it can't be found by a text search. For place names in Taiwan, please try to use Hanyu Pinyin as default, as that is the spelling most people know.

Cheap flights from Europe to Taipei

Postby spock » 02 May 2012, 16:54

I know this is tough one because all flights are expensive but for me every dime counts

I'm looking to book the cheapest flight from Europe (Poland) to Taipei leaving between the 27th - 29th of June with return on 15th of September.

If you have time to travel, consider booking into Kuala Lumpur or Singapore or maybe even Bangkok if it is substantially cheaper than direct to Taipei. There are a couple cheap regional airlines that you can catch to Taipei and sometimes can catch really cheap discounts. Air Asia, Jetstar, Tiger.

I fly to Paris a few times a year and have noticed that I could save a couple hundred US$, but never have enough time, so I pay extra to fly as direct as possible.

KLM is running a promotion right now on their brand new direct flights between Amsterdam and Taipei.
Should be plenty of cheap flight tickets between Poland and Amsterdam.

Those are tough dates to find cheap flights, you're flying ex-Europe at rush-hour (late July).

You can do Warsaw-Hkg for 533GBP with Aeroflot, then maybe get a cheap flight 200GBP from Hkg-Tpe.
Or 733GBP Warsaw-Tpe with Air China.

Going direct through those airlines websites might be even cheaper.

or try Tango's budget air suggestions.

You can even do Taipei-Amsterdam, then take a train from Amsterdam-Schipol to Berlin, then another train to Warsaw. Train from Amsterdam to Berlin is 30 euros if you buy them early (like about 2 months in advanced), I don't know about Berlin to Warsaw.

I like the price a lot, and the stopover is not at all bad, IF you can get out of the airport. Which you can't because you won't have a visa :D.
But if you could, then Hangzhou ain't a bad place to be.

Hangzhou airport is pretty small - you'll need something really worth reading, and a comfy air-mattress with pillow. 22 hours :noway:.

Might as well do TPE-AMS, then train to Berlin then Warsaw (or wherever you're going), or catch a budget flight at Schiphol.

Flight used to take 13 hours when they stopped in thailand, and now that they don't anymore, it should take around 10 hours. The IC train to Berlin will take 7 hours, and figure another 5 hours or so (I don't know how long it took) to get to Warsaw. Train leaves like every hour, so when the flight lands at 5am you can be on the train by 8am or earlier (accounting for customs/immigration delays).

Beats waiting for 22 hours in China.

Oh and I think if you are going to transit for more than a certain number of hours in China (I don't know if its 12 or 24 hours), you will need a visa. If you are Taiwanese you can just use a Taibaozheng.
