Freelancing for Foreign Company & Paid into Foreign Bank Account

Postby Piffle » 06 Dec 2011, 10:24

If I freelanced for a European-based company that would pay the money into my European bank account while I am living in Taiwan, would that be illegal?

Absolutely not, provided any relevant taxes are paid and you are not breaking any laws.
Jesus Quintana: Let me tell you something, pendejo. You pull any of your crazy shit with us, you flash a piece out on the lanes, I'll take it away from you, stick it up your ass and pull the fucking trigger 'til it goes "click."
The Dude: Jesus.
Jesus Quintana: You said it, man. Nobody fucks with the Jesus.

Mr.Lahey: The shitabyss!
Randy: Mr. Lahey, not another night of the shitabyss, please?!
Mr.Lahey: Ah, fuck it.

Agree with the previous poster -- can't be illegal. How easy would it be to find these sorts of opportunities, though?

if you are in charge of buying/selling here there may be tax things to consider. but working for someone out of country while being here seems to be fine. I do it and have all my pay put into my bank account back home where i pay taxes.

Have any of you used Elance (or similar sites) for supplemental income?

I've hired people from there.
“Everywhere else in the world is also really old” said Prof. Liu, a renowned historian at Beijing University. “We always learn that China has 5000 years of cultural heritage, and that therefore we are very special. It appears that other places also have some of this heritage stuff. And are also old. Like, really old.”

When I work for companies/people outside Taiwan, I ask for payment to be sent to my Hong Kong bank account. The charges seem to be much lower than having it sent to a Taiwan bank, the service is better and there's no tax to be paid.
