Paying labor and health insurance independently

Does anyone have experience in this area? Are you self-employed, hopefully APRC holder, and pay the labor and health insurance by yourself, meaning not dependent on an employer/partner/spouse?

From my search here, it says to pay laobao or labor insurance you have to have a local partner (Bismark's quote from 2009). :eek:

Now, those of us who have no local partners, zemapana?

Just go to the NHI office by the main station with your ID and proof of residence, and they'll insure you on the spot. 臺北市中正區公園路15-1號5樓

Not sure about labor insurance for APRC holders.

Went to ask the Labor Insurance Bureau and the answer was clear as chocolate. Apparently, you have to be an employee to pay. Gotta keep on digging.

Not true, even the unemployed need to pay in ... and they have to do it somewhere.

That is why I was confused. We were told by 2 different clerks that no, you had to be employed. One send me to the local union chapter.

I hope it was just a language confusion.

Anyways, I'm paying in true my wife as a dependent ... her (employer) company has to arrange that.

If you don't work for a while and then get another job I believe you have to make up the difference owed in Lao Bao contributions.
