I find that outcome almost obscene in its unwarranted, unjust and unjustifiable leniency.

It is inconceivable that either of the attackers would have stayed out of jail if they'd been convicted of such a brutal attack in the UK.

Inconceivable in the US as well. They most assuredly would have spent some hard time in prison for being convicted of felonious assault and battery with GBI.

Same here. I had no doubt that they would never spend a day in jail. The only amazing thing is that people are surprised by the outcome.

I've been here almost five. That's probably a manslaughter charge with good behaviour back in Australia. Just think, if instead of getting that plane to come here, I'd just accidentally run someone over, I'd probably be out of jail by now!

What do they expect him to do here? Get a job? Who will hire him? Btw, is he going to open up a ramen shop?

He's from a lowly burakumin caste, which is overly represented in the Yakuza. He won't have problems finding dirty work.
