Thats what I thought and had posted that in an earlier post. THank you Sandman. You have a beer or a hug coming from me next time I see ya.

Yeah, good gawd woman, when you wrote:

I figure I was actually helping. Sorry I don't know the color of the hospital or the lettering on the side of it, but I figured that was irrelevant. :)

Anyway, I hope you manage to become one of the few MRT zone dwellers to make it out this way during your time in Taiwan.

Here's a report: http://udn.com/NEWS/ENTERTAINMENT/ENT2/3566453.shtml

Mark's wife launched a public appeal for donations, which was attended by various celebrities who have got to know Mark during the past couple of years since he got involved in showbiz. It says that a fellow called Kang Kang, whose show Mark appeared on regularly, gave NT$100,000, while a number of other celebrities gave red envelopes.

There's no mention of Jacky Wu, but I trust he'll be contributing as generously as he previously promised.

The Apple Daily ran something as well today. It mentioned the account number to donate funds. There was a picture but not the same as the one in the one above.

Fundraising for Ma-ke and family

Postby vmcguire » 21 Oct 2006, 08:32

On the funraising front, I don't see that the press conference had a big enough impact. I'm wondering if we can take it to a higher level. If the "stars" can create enough positive awareness then perhaps the "foreign" community can.

One suggestion is a "gathering for Mark" - perhaps to be held in Taipei. How about we get 5000 foreigners and their friends together?

Any other ideas?

Really? Exactly what impact DID the press conference have? And how do you know this?
A gathering for Mark? Good idea. MJB has organized two so far already, one here, one in Taipei.

How about publicizing it in other countries and trying to get people flying in or at least donating from abroad? It could be turned into an international effort!! Or maybe do something similar to a Jerry Lewis telethon. What about donation boxes in all of the 7-11's nationwide? Maybe you can contact their head office!

All aside; great to see the support all of Marks' friends are giving him. Keep up the good work everyone! What a lucky guy to know all of you.

I think you have very little idea of how much money has been raised so far...Suffice to say that Marks family will have few financial worries for quite a while.

A word of advice; Bullshit doesn't float well here.

It's really not fair to the people who have done so much, and invested loads of personal time and money to help...Once again, where were you when the fundraising venues were taking place?

The foreign community so far has been resolute in it's support of Mark, both emotionally and financially. People that don't even know him are volunteering to help with daytime visitation. The celebrity community in Taipei has done the same. Had you bothered to show up last Saturday night, you would have seen a fantastic example of community solidarity. You live in Zhongli as well...Don't you?

Lastly, This is a public arena, where any journalist could come in here snooping around for an update on Marks fundraising efforts and the general attitude of the foreign community regarding. Knowing them...It's bullshit quotes like this (and others you've made) that could end up in the press, showing discord where none really exists.

We all want the same thing...And the donations are going better than we'd hoped.

Stop swimming in the wrong direction...Please?
