This one drives me nuts, especially when they stamp their foot and grunt or bark at the dogs. It really irritates me when kids do it, and their parents are right there and do nothing. I'll usually tell them that the dogs are peaceful unless someone does what they're doing. They either continue or stop, and the parents always do the "stone face", as I suddenly cease to exist. It's happening with less and less frequency over the years, though.

I've got a neighbor kid who's taken to swinging at my dogs with a stick. They finally chased the little fucker the other day. If only I could speak proper mando, there's a couple of things I would say to him:
If you act like a normal human being, my dogs will ignore you. IF you swing a stick, naturally, they're just not going to like you very much.
And
My dogs know they are stronger than you, pipsqueak. They're not scared of you. They know that if it came down to it, they'd tear you to shreds. Think you're tough with your little stick? Trust me, they're not scared. Don't pick fights when you're clearly weaker.
But, now I'm just keeping my dogs on leash to spare him his life. So it goes.

I used to have a friend here who regularly gave cars a good swift ringing kick when they came to close. Steel toed boots for good measure. I've never seen so many surprised looks in my life.
