Quorn in Taiwan?

2) Please append your request to an existing thread if you find a stale one, rather than starting a new one.

3) Please post separately  for each search item, not one thread for "olives and sour cream". Two threads, one for each. This makes it much easier for the moderator to merge your thread with an existing one, if any.

Quorn (brandname) and other manufacturers use fungi (Mycoprotein, mould)

One of the local veggie noodle bars in town serves a really decent cubed fake meat, nice consistency, but they won't tell me the source (other than it's from Taipei) :(

Thankyou for the welcome Dragonbones.

Sorry I should have realised that Quorn was a brand name; I suppose I just want any sort of meat substance that's not actually meat. Quorn chicken pieces here are very good, as are the mince and sausages. We both found Tofu to be quite disgusting, but that was whilst preparing it ourselves. We'll try it again at a restaurant but I don't think we'll ever become fans.

She loves vegetables (though embarrassingly I never grew up eating them and thus still don't) and should have no trouble with the food here so long as we can find it. I used to smash through chickens regularly so I don't see why I can't do it in Taiwan if the meat is sometimes hard to come by or expensive.

Tofu comes in quite a variety here, all of which you should try. The softer type could easily be disgusting if prepared badly at home, but is quite good when done right.

The tofu here in Taiwan is AWESOME!! I'm a strict vegan myself and I just love it. If you have the balls to get past the smell of stinky tofu, you should try it! I find the way I like it best is deep fried or BBQ. You have to eat it freshly made though. It doesn't taste so good when you get it as take-away to eat later.

There's all sorts of ways they prep meat substitute dishes. You can have your pick of pork, chicken, fish, steak... If you go to Welcome, there's even a section for it, if you want to cook at home.

Quorn in Taiwan?

Quorn, that's funny. Taiwan has a lot of great tofu choices, almost none of which you would have tried before. So try something new.

The OP is thinking far ahead. He can foresee that stage when you've waded through all the tofu and fake meats here, and still miss Quorn.
I know where's he at.

Quorn in Taiwan?

Well I'm not even vegetarian but I sure like Taiwans variety of fruit and veg including said tofu and dogan and dojiang and douhua products, but it will take them some time for palate adjustment if eating out.

Sure it's a fine range here, but a good Quorn curry, oh man...
Dogan - that's the one thing I've never got a taste for though. The hard chewy snack version (is there any other?).
