Taipei Knife Store

Postby BenInTaipei » 29 Jun 2006, 20:09

Where can I find a weapons store in taipei? I'm into martial arts and am an avid knife collector. I'm looking for some good quality knife stores. i found a link on a malaysian knife forum that included a picture of a taipei knife store, but it failed to list which one it was. Any help finding this store or any like it would be great. Btw, I'm in the Wanhua District, near Longshan MRT stop. I do have a scooter, so travelling won't be a problem. Thanks.

There's a cracking one down my way in Xindian, right on Bei-hsing Rd. (the main road) and just a minute or two walk from the Xindian City Hall MRT stop. They have all kinds of funky stuff, from Lord of the Rings-type swords to katanas, throwing knives, stupendous damascus steel knives from Kinmen (Jinmen), cooking knives, super-expensive sashimi knives from Japan... (I'm a cooking knife nut myself). I'll tak a quick look on my home tonight and post the exact address tomorrow.

A good knife store

Postby browny » 29 Jun 2006, 21:01

If you go to the new location of the computer market in Taipei (the one that used to be under the freeway...I'm sorry - I forgot the name of the market) there is a good store that sells knives, among other things. If you are wanting a nice butterfly knife or a switchblade knife they have them.

Browny: I've been to the new technology market. I believe that its called Bade Rd (and Zhongshan North Rd). However, could you be more exact as to the location of the shop? Is it on Bade? Is it across Zhongshan Rd? Any more details will help.

Sandman: I'm also a cooking knife aficiando myself. I have a global chef knife, (which I think is a little too blade heavy) and a few Wusthof paring knives/cutting knives. I'll definitely visit the store and get a good look around. If you could find an exact address, that'd be great.

Well I'm sorry Ben. I totally blew it off last night (as usual!) However, if you exit the Xindian City Hall stop and walk back towards Taipei just a few dozen yards you can't miss it. Its on the opposite side of the road to the gas station.

There's a pretty nutty knives, swords, pipes, rolling papers (you get the picture...) store just down the road from the Tung-Hwa night market, just off Gee-Long Rd in Taipei. I'll see if I can find the name-card for ya. I don't know if they have exactly what you're looking for, but there are some neat things there, worth a look.
I believe it is right on Tung-Hwa St., a wee bit south from the night market pedestrian road, on the west side of the street. Make sense?

There are a quite a few knife stores on Kinmen (Jinmen) island where they make the knifes out of old artillery shells. Majestro Wu is probably the most famous one, and I have seen the products at some shops in Taipei (same shops that sell other products from there, like Kinmen (Jinmen) kaoliang).

Re: Taipei Knife Store

Postby Dragonbones » 08 Jul 2011, 15:38

So what's the best place to shop for Global, Wusthof, MAC, Shun etc. knives in Taibei? Does anyone know who has the best prices?

Also, I seem to recall someone mentioning a cutlery shop near the Sun Yatsen Memorial, but I can't find the post that was in. Does anyone have directions or other info on that shop?

Thanks! :)
