Getting rid of an old scooter

Postby muzharen » 16 Mar 2010, 16:46

Hi,

Anyone know what's the correct procedure for getting rid of an old, clapped out scooter? I've been told that i can just take the number plate off it and it'll be taken away eventually by the city government but I'd rather do whatever your supposed to do. Anyone know what that is?

Also, it won't start so it could be tricky to bring it somewhere.

thanks,

M

ps. I have searched the forums for an answer to this already but found nothing

If you take the plate off it'll just rust away and litter the place for months before being taken away. Not very civic-minded. Plus, you'll still be the owner and the bike will still be officially extant, so you'll still be paying tax on it.
If, however, you take the plate to the DMV and "baofei" it -- officially junking it -- they'll come and get the bike for you. AND pay you (I think) NT$400.

We traded our ChaCha 50 in for a CUXI. It didn't run, so they didn't give us anything for it, but at least we got rid of it.

Try your local motorbike shop. They'll usually take them and get them to a scrap dealer.
