My avatar does not display... only the weird picture mini icon (triangle, square, circle) that indicates a picture should be there.

Any help here ??

The avatar image needs to have a permanent web address to link to. If not it won't be able to effectively show it, hence the small blue question mark - meaning a broken link to the image. There are services such as Picassa and Flickr where you could upload and host an image to get a web address to link to. Alternatively you could do an google image search and use a link to some other image, as long as it'a acceptable to do so.

I must admit, it's not the easiet site to display an avatar, but with a little know how it's not too much of a bother.

I think your avatar may get you into a little trouble ...
You can live here and have a great life and not be the least bit into living the local life. Evidently this forum is a little more stuffy than others I've been on... changed as requested.

It's a good observation, and probably worthy of a long weekend of introspection and deliberation. We haven't had a meta-analytic review for at least 4 days, and one or two of our most vociferous roustabouts seem to have sobered up quite early and are out from under their bridges. I suspect one of them can temp this in a heartbeat to get a fully pointless mud slinging festival into full flow. :D
Whilst it can be stuffy, and prudish, it can also be, well, whatever the opposite of that is. The site is a barrel of inconsistencies cemented into place by human bias and intellectual one-upmanship. But God love her, she is held together by the same madness that threatens to drive her to ruin.
There are millions of people in the world. And none of those people is an extra. They're all leads in their own stories.

If you lose one sense, your other senses are enhanced. That's why people with no sense of humour have an increased sense of self-importance.
