Report a post and get AN EMAIL???

So I squealed on a post and two things from the dynamic flob team instantly sprang to life.

1) I get an email, an EMAIL? telling me what has taken place after I squealed. Why not a PM?
2) The report basically says NOTHING. "You are receiving this notification because the report you filed on the post "I have deleted this part myself" was handled by a
moderator or by an administrator. The report was afterwards closed. If you have further questions contact (name of mod deleted by me) with a personal message." Now what the hell does that garbage even mean guys? "Yeah we saw your squeal and we done something and now its finished." Super stuff. I bet whoever penned that blanket email had to think long and hard to make it as ambiguous as possible.

So help me out here. Would you rather just be ignored, and never told that someone had handled your squeal? If you don't want to be ignored, do you think the mods have time to write personal notes to all those who report posts? It's not that we don't appreciate the effort, but we get rather a lot of reports, you know.

I don't see the value in the email I received. I don't understand why this valueless email wasn't sent to me as a pm instead. I have to go to another website to find out what happened on this website? That is weird.

In essence what I am telling you is that whatever you (the flob) did send to me and wherever you sent it it was of no use to me whatsoever. I do not feel part of any process other than one where I squeal (which you TELL US TO DO) and then get told on another site, 'case closed.'

I must agree with superking. If a report is closed, the notification should go to the squealer's PM box rather than e-mail account. Is there a particular rationale behind this, or is it a tech issue?

Oh, and as far a "feeling part of the process" goes and knowing what happened: If what you squealed has disappeared, it was removed by a mod. If it hasn't, it was reviewed by a mod and deemed acceptable. Would you like to be notified that someone was warned or suspended? Not protocol, and ain't gonna happen.

The mods REALLY value posters bringing things to their attention, but we don't have the time to send a reply/bouquet of roses to each squeal. You'd be surprised how many reports we get.

First, getting a lot of reports is untrue. Maybe the IP mod gets a few a day, but other fora......one every couple of weeks max, unless the mod is not flaming and temping and NOT doing their job.

And time? Have a standard line, action has been taken or we decided to not do anything about the post it isn't against the rules. Simple.

The software is set up this way. Not sure why. I don't think it can be changed, but I'll look into it some more.

The software can't be set up to do it automatically. Mods have to spend time on a lot of things here. There are more reports than you think, IMO. I don't think it's a high enough of a priority to require a response. Rest assured we will act on reports.

I don't care too much what happens after submitting a spammer or troller or what system informs you or not via a PM or mail.
There is one long-time Mod whom does reply via PM and encourages continuing reporting but I fully understand that volunteers keeping the flob clean can't take the time to reply.

If action is taken and the poster gets a warning, becomes banned or the post is put in temp, it's mission accomplished as having contributed for betterment.

Sorry for being a bit of an ass about this earlier. I've been under the weather for about a month and I feel shitty and irascible all the time because they can't figure out why I am sick, but that is no excuse for me being anything less than friendly in my feedback to you guys. So sorry for that.

It seems now that this email is an automatic process that is triggered in some way by the mod. I still don't fully grasp how it is triggered. As to the wording, for me it's not worth sending a reply if that is what is sent. I didn't expect roses and a sharp slap on the back, and wouldn't expect to be wined and dined by the moderator (though it would be lovely) but something like, "Thanks, we've flamed it," or "thanks, we will be dealing with this," seems better to me than, "the report was afterwards closed." It doesn't really tell me if the thing I squealed about was the right sort of thing to be squealing about or if I am just a picky fool who needs to chill out a bit... Feeling part of the process is perhaps not what I should have said. Maybe its more like, "I don't know if I was right to squeal in this case or not." You guys say that you get a lot of these... maybe it is because people don't know if they are squealing about the right things or not... mebbee.

What reports do mods have to do these days? I'm not saying I don't believe you, I am asking how such a thing has crept in. When I was a mod you just did some pruning etc and stumped up in the Star Chamber with your comments about this and that. Are you guys writing reports now?
