Good western restaurant near the Taipei Train Station?

Postby funkymonkey » 22 May 2012, 14:34

Are there any good western restaurants near the Taipei Train Station? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

People have said very good things about Cucina Sole.

I seem to remember some more recent negative reviews. But I didn't see them in that thread.

I haven't tried the place myself.

How near and what price range and style?

Had Cucina Sole about 6 months ago. Food is good.

There is a mcdonalds in the underground mall of station.

Down the street at Sheraton Hotel is a great buffet and a great French restaurant.

Across the street in Palace de Chine hotel is a 4-5 star steak and seafood restaurant of a western style, an alleycats pizza, and inside the Q-mall is a german restaurant and some others, with a Kentucky Fried Chicken a block past the mall.

There is also a McDonalds across from the Nova Electronics market and Shin Kong Mitsukoshi.

The KFC is in the basement food court of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi.
There is also a "western" rotisserie chicken and Italian ice gelato place in the same food court.

If you go down the underground mall and exit by Shimin Blvd Civic Blvd near the back of the Train station, there is a Vie Show Cinemas (Qsquare mall).
I think there are some western fast foods inside in the basement B2 and B3 of Vie Show Cinemas, like Subway, NY Bagel, or Movenpick Cafe with quiche, waffles and sandwiches but I don't recall exactly since every place in Taipei is starting to look the same to me.

That sounds excellent. I haven't had a buffet in ages. Do you know how much it is/what kind of food they have/etc.?

Their buffet is awesome. Iit is like 100nts more or less, but you get steak, stir and pan fried stuff, nice selection of sushi, and the pastries are eally good.

For the restaurants you have to make very early reservations. It also has Italian -nice set meal during the week, wood oven pizza- and Cantonese.

I think ya dropped a zero. If the buffet were really that cheap, the line would probably stretch from the Sheraton all the way to Wanhua.
