She actually has a decent selection of drinks, including south african cider (most of the time), wine, beer and some stronger stuff as well.
There's also meant to be some sommelier place in Xindian, but never been there so I couldn't tell you where it is, but I know they do bbq's from time to time. I'm sure you could ask in the fairy as they know the sommelier.

It looks different..can get busy but it's still nice and dark in spots where you can go and sit on the steps next to the river. There is a coffeeshop called Fairy Cafe in ZhongZhen street, run by a South-African woman.

We just found a good deal on a place and we've always liked that area. I've actually only been to Bitan once in my life and it was just last year. It was way too crowded for my tastes but hopefully it's not like that all the time. We tried the Athulas and it was great. Thanks for the tips! I look forward to running into you people.

P.S. That cafe looks great. How are the burgers?

I had Athula's almost every night for a month and now I'm stuck with a little belly I'm trying to get rid of. Hahaha. There is a music store (musical instruments) a street down from you. Lots of old guitars hanging outside. It's one of the streets that connects Jung-Hwa road with Zhongzhen.

If you go down Jung-Hwa road (where the Xindian city hall MRT is) it splits into two..if you turn right you get to the music store. If you turn left and go down it for a bit Sommelier is on your right(after the Elementary school I think)

Cloudy days, rainy days, weekdays it's fine. And you can always pop across the suspension bridge to Hemeishan for a walk in the jungle with some stellar views over the city and mountains. Some great grassy spots too you can just sit and read a bookor have a picnic.

Good to hear. I live close by and will drop in.

Btw, has anyone else discovered that from the RT Mart back to Bitan the old canal system has been fixed up for a couple blocks? There is a boardwalk atop but also they have stoned the walls and made a path on the bottom so you can actually walk along it. I know they are restoring the system throughout the city. It would be amazing if you could use it as a sub-road level walking path to get around.

yeah, the whole place has been dolled up a bit for that new apartment building that was built. I laughed so much when I saw the TV ads...'The most beautiful city by the riverside' and they showed crystal blue Bitan river...blue???hah. I am enjoying the area. It is way too crowded weekend days, but at night it's quite romantic. I love walking to the middle of the bridge and just looking at the lights while waiting for my Athula wraps.
