It is so hard to find caramel stuff here. I crave caramel. Who makes fudge? I need fudge.

Haha...YES MALVA!How did you know?
I had to halve the sugar in the recipe, and it's still really really sweet and heavy, but 'hey' we do promote 'western style dessert' so I guess it's should be kinda expected. The original recipe was just ridiculous, I mean my 'sweetness tolerance' is much higher than most, and even I struggled. I dare not make fudge, cause that will be a killer, I'll end up eating it all myself, I do want to try and make some lemon meringue pie, another really sweet one, but maybe I can experiment a little. :lick:

I haven't visited the Fairy Cafe yet, and perhaps someday I will, but I'd like to offer a bit of (unsolicited) advice for the owner.

Unless I've traveled a great distance to eat at a particular place, I'm often not that committed to eating at any one restaurant. This is especially true in in areas teeming with eateries. Therefore, the first impression is critical. If I were to see all the lights out, particularly during the lunch hour or normal dining hours, I would definitely move on to the next restaurant without much thought or hesitation.

You may have saved NT $5 by turning off the lights, but you lost yourself much more than that in lost sales. It doesn't make sense from a business perspective to turn off the lights during typical eating hours. If you're going to turn off lights, at least don't make the place look deserted.

Just trying to help. Hopefully what I wrote above isn't taken as being overly harsh.

Nice to know we have friends who understand the pain of "a slow day" (In this case SLOW WEEK, since the Megi is really screwing with our business this week, from what I have heard everybody seems to be 'bleeding' this week )

Who would have thought that turning off some lights, NOT ALL, would start up such a vibrant thread of comments.

Cest la vie  You are all welcome to come try my place when you have a chance, "Just call in advance so I can make sure ALL the lights are on"
I still believe we have the best carrot cake, brownies and even cheesecake in town and paired with a nice cup of Amarula Latte (or creamy hot chocolate on such a gloom day), I'm pretty sure I'll win your hearts over :lick:

I would love to have some fudge, but I'll definitely come try that pie too. I am a sugar addict. I actually feel crabby unless I have sugar. I actually just eat straight sugar, but nothing kills a sugar craving like caramel.

Hi guys, I have 'upgraded' the map and also add some 'walking directions from the MRT'...http://www.thefairycafe.com/Location.html

If you are in the area come join us on Wednesday evenings as we get together for our weekly wine club social. A few very cool people living in the area, and a perfect break to the week. We usually hang out from around 8pm till 11pm.
Feel free to join us on Facebook (TaipeiFairies) or check out our blog for updates on specials and events.

I'm only in Xindian on Saturdays ( to shop the traditional markets ). I'll try to come by on a wednesday to say hi. Your staff spoke pretty good English. Were they your former students? ( I suppose you taught english? )

edit(*added)- if i may offer my constructive criticism, you could use an anonymous feedback box in your restaurant (if its already there, make it more visible), so your customers can give you their opinions via notes. that way they can communicate directly to you without advertising your shortcomings out and about.

I'm sure all service feedbacks here are well-intended, but allowing them to get to you directly and anonymously will help sway unwanted gossips that may stem from folks who are just sharking for something to criticize.
