Energy and Sports Drinks Can Permanently Damage Teeth after Only 5 Days

Postby Belgian Pie » 03 May 2012, 15:22

Dentists are warning that the high acidity levels in popular sports and energy drinks can cause irreversible damage to teeth by eroding outer tooth enamel, according to a new study that also found an alarming increase in the consumption of these teeth-damaging drinks, especially among adolescents.

One more reason not to drink too much of it ... or have your kids drink it!

Stay away from oranges and lemons... they're pretty acidic, aren't they?

And then doesn't toothpaste strip away layers of enamel too?
There are millions of people in the world. And none of those people is an extra. They're all leads in their own stories.

Which is why now they recommend you to wait one hour or so before brushing your teeth if you have eaten something acidic. The damage by the acid is nothing compared tp the softening of the enamel plus the brush bristles stripping away such enamel when you brush. Lovely.

I think I had read that the main problem with sports drinks was damage to the liver, kidneys or so. Worse than alcohol.

I drink around 1.5 litres of Super Supau a day! What's in it that damages the liver and kidneys? It's not just sugar water?
