a bump on the back of my neck? do you have one?

I've noticed when i bend my neck forward..and i feel teh back of my neck up and down...there's a bump in the middle of my neck..like across teh back..I was wondering is this just a muscle??
any of you guys have anything similar? a bump in teh middle of your neck or near the hairline along the back?

It could be a swollen gland. I had one some months ago, doctor said it was stress related. So I quit my job and it went away. Wasn't exactly in the middle, but just off to the right.

It might be just a fatty tumor, which is easy to remove at a hospital.

It really depends on the bump. Get a friend to take a look. More than likely it's just a sebaceous cyst (basically a plugged hair follicle), which is nothing to worry about. On the other paw, it could be something horrible, like a second head growing!!!

But yeah, get someone to look.

Just go see the doc. I had a suspicious mole once (irregular shape, itching, discoloured, classic signs of skin cancer) and I went to the hospital, saw the doc, they had it cut out 20 minutes later and biopsied within the week. No fuss and it put my mind at ease, especially after I learned it was nothing.

I never hesitate to head to the doc for such things. You'll be served by Taiwan's finest.

I don't think the bump can be removed.. if they did 1/4 of my neck would be gone.. its really deep and long..hmm feels more like a muscle to me...thanks guys

Put your hand on top of your head and push. If it is a muscle you should be able to find some position where it will flex.

Are you talking about your spine? Definitely don't have that removed, it would make standing up straight quite difficult
