I personally believe losing weight is 70% about the diet and only 30% about exercising. I lost 10kg in one period simply by changing my diet (mainly cutting sugars and carbs). I did not work out at all. But if you go for a very-low calorie diet, you may have problems getting the nutrition you need.
At the moment I'm doing leangains so that I can build muscle while losing bodyfat. I was really wondering for a while if it worked since my weight has stayed pretty much the same. But I'm lifting about 30% heavier than when I started and I'm getting complimented left and right, so the bodyfat seems to be going down. The tire is almost gone, but I haven't had the chance to have my body fat reliably tested anywhere.
I have this Tamita scale that is supposed to measure bodyfat, but I'm pretty convinced that it simply does a calculation based on height and weight. If I carry a dumbbell with me onto the scale, the bodyfat increases by a lot. That doesn't seem correct to me. Does anyone know of a place that can reliably measure bodyfat? I don't mind paying for a proper measurement.
