3 day trip from Tapei to Kending. Accommodations/transportation... Any suggestions?

I'm planning on going to Kending next week for 3 days. I love the beach and heard it's the place to go! Any suggestions on cheap, but decent accommodations? Most affordable way to get there is with the bus over night?! How to I get from Kaoshiung (Gaoxiong) to Kending? Any other suggestions?

You can also try Qingshan Hostel (墾丁民宿青山小築), a Minsu off of Dawan Rd No. 3 . Lane 120 Dawan Rd. Kending. Quiet place, convenient location. Don't expect much English to be spoken.

Since you didn't mention from where you're travelling I suspect the answer is Taipei
I usually take a bus down to Kaohsiung and then either rent a car or take a taxi to Kending, depending on what my plans are (taxi if I wanna stay in the same place and just being a lazy bum at the beach, car if plan to get around a bit).

rooms are easy form 700+ but this is near spring scream, nothing will be as cheap as normal, and it will be BUSY.

HSR to Kaohsiung (or TRA trains to save money or the bus) , then another bus to Kending. Then rent a scoot while there for your transport needs would work.

People were swimming in the ocean when I was there mid march.

hi, does anyone know of a cheap car rental company in Kaoshiung (Gaoxiong), or near the HSR? Online prices are about 2500 for a cheap car, whereas we got 1500 a day in Hualien-so would like a bit cheaper for Kaoshiung (Gaoxiong).

Yes as you exit the KRT at the ShiaoGang airport stop (KHH) there are two rental companies right in the same small building. I got a brand new march 2012 for 1800 a day. Was great.

They also have a branch at the end of the HSR in tsyoh ying, they told me.

thanks, I called car-plus, and for a 2600$ car with credit card they give 25% off on day 1, and for the next half a day we pay 60% of 1300...so it's a decent deal, and yes, from zyoing HSR. Great.

They were great. Efficient and polite.

At least the peeps at the kaohsiung airport. Well specifically this one guy that helped me was awesome.

how difficult is it to rent a scooter/motorbike in Kending without a license? I've heard mixed things. Any one do it recently?
