Foreigner price to see what other foreigners built

Forum rules
When posting, especially when starting a new thread, please use a title that explains your post or thread, e.g. don't put "Help please!" when you could put "Where can I find a camp site near Kending?"

Please check your spelling, because someone may do a text search for your information, e.g. if someone searches for information on Xizhi and you have spelled it She Jher, they won't find it. Someone spelled camping as "campin" without a g at the end - again, it can't be found by a text search. For place names in Taiwan, please try to use Hanyu Pinyin as default, as that is the spelling most people know.

Please place links in your posts to sources of information. If you don't know how to hotlink text, click on the BBCode tips link in my signature to find out.

If you find a thread that is so hopelessly out of date that it couldn't be of use to anyone, please send the moderator a private message (with the URL of the thread)

If you spot two or more threads that you think could be merged, again, alert the moderator

You're right. Racist was the wrong choice of word. Arseholes definately fits the bill though. I guess I was a little too self-absorbed and not considering the fact that it might be in place for mainland senior citizen tourists who are flocking to this place by the busload.

Has anyone ever been to this place? I'd love to know what I am missing. Is it overflowing with foreign tourists? I went to the National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium a couple of weeks ago and have to say it was a class act. Not sure I would have entered the place had I noticed something so ridiculous posted outside though.

I've been there and I love it. I'm really into history and old things and I've done a lot of reading over the last couple years about Taiwan before the Japan era. If you're into that kind of thing, Fort Zeelandia and Fort Provintia (both in Tainan) are worth a visit. Provintia was captured right away upon Kongxinga's asault. Zeelandia held out for over a year. Lots of stories of blood, torture, espionage, courage, and cowardice.

I was there last Saturday, saw a handful of tall noses and busloads of mainlanders.

Of course, we well know that, in actuality, the ticket-sellers will be flexible about who gets a discount, and “the rules” will only be applied very loosely most of the time. If a foreigner really cares about getting a discount, I’m sure he will usually be able to persuade the ticket-seller to give it to him.

I always found that when I ask for something that a rulebook tells the employee not to do (e.g. cell phone, credit card in my own name), they get a look on the face that says "does not compute. Foreigner cannot get... insert whatever you asked for here.

I bet the ticket sellers will dig in regarding this rule.

Foreigners always pay less than 20% tax? I thought it depended on your income. Foreigners paying a lower rate than locals wouldn't go down well.
