Rowing Clubs/Teams in Taipei?

Postby landshark » 16 Aug 2011, 15:38

Hello Everyone,

I was on the crew team through high school and University and want to get back in it. Does anyone know of any rowing teams or clubs here in Taipei? There was a school that use to row by Dazhi but since the Flower Show came to town they have been MIA?

They often have single skulls on the river at Bitan but I've never seen crewed boats.

Where is that? I am game for some singles action (that sounded a little cheesy). Singles rowing.

The end of the green MRT line. Xindian. Turn left out of the turnstiles, turn left again out of the station, walk 50 yards to the suspension bridge, go down the steps to the river, walk further out until you come to the ferry, take the ferry across the river (NT$20) and there's a boating/kayaking club building there.

OK, next time I'm down that way I'll see if I can rustle up a telephone number for you. Dunno about the skulls, but they were happy to let me take a kayak out for a little while a few years back. Pretty nice people.

Hey,

does anyone have any more info about this place in Bitan?

Is it just a hut where rowers keep their gear, or does this place have lessons or equipment you can rent.

I've never rowed before, but in my never-ending quest for a hobby I thought I might look into this place.

If it doesn't, does anyone know of any places that do have rowing lessons or anything of the sort? I know I could just do it on the rowing machine in the gym, but it's not the same is it?

Thanks!
