Football/Soccer in Taichung

Postby thenotee » 04 May 2012, 17:56

Hi everyone, first post.

Moving to live in Taichung in August and just wondering what the football (soccer) scene is like in Taiwan in general.

I play at a fairly good level and was wondering if there are leagues available for non-professionals to join or local teams etc.

Do these exist over there?

Thanks ! :)

There are currently 3 foreign football (soccer) teams in Taichung. The longest-running (and, in my opinion, the best!) side is Compass Taichung FC. You can check out our website at www.taichungcompassfc.com and get in touch with them at doug@taiwanfun.com. We have matches most weekends and regularly play other foreign and local sides, as well as tournaments.

There are open Wednesday-night kick-arounds 8-10 p.m. each week (weather permitting) for foreigners who are serious about football and this is also a good way to get acquainted with everyone and, hopefullly, link up with a team.
