I am studying Chinese at NTNU and next month I will be eligible for a Resident Visa and then ARC. I would like to know how long the whole process really takes.
On monday I will apply for the resident visa (now I hold a student visitor visa) and after the resident visa is ready (how long does it take?) I will apply for the ARC.
Do you guys think there is any chance I can get the whole process done before January 20th and be able to leave Taiwan during Chinese New Year?
Do you know anything I can do in between getting the Resident Visa and the Chinese New Year to allow me to travel during that time? Can I apply for a re-entry permit before applying for the ARC?
Or I just have to stick to the idea that I will have to stay in Taiwan during the 9 days of CNY?
By the way I am a Brazilian citizen.

The only thing I know for sure is that when you turn up at the NIA with your resident visa and all your paperwork ready you can pick up your ARC exactly 14 days later.
For the rest of your questions: go to the MTC office and ask the staff in charge of visa questions. They usually know all the relevant stuff about this kind of questions because a gazillion other MTC students have been in a similar situation before. They can also provide you with the application forms so you can fill them out in advance.
