I can get ARC/workpermit but my girlfriend can't...Problem!

Hi people,

Sorry to bother you guys but at this point I'm quite desperate...
I will be coming back to Taiwan to open up my own place in Kaohsiung, I've been working on it for months but they make it so difficult for me and my girlfriend
Anyway, please let me share you my problem: as a foreigner, I've been told (by different accountants in Taiwan) the only option I have is to start a limited company (if I want to do it legally without help of taiwanese friends) wich is fine for me, I have the money to start up and through that I can have ARC and workpermit, but since today I know it's not possible for my girlfriend to have an ARC and workpermit through this business, eventhough she will work as much as I do and spend as much money as I do. That's my big problem...
Do you have any idea how we can both stay in Taiwan and work?

The only things the accountants can say to me is:
-you get married (then she will receive ARC but no workpermit)
-start her own limited company so she can get ARC and workpermit (but that's really crazy, 1 business will be difficult enough)

Can I for example hire her? or do you know if there are other options?

Hope you can help me a little bit because as I told you before I'm getting quite desperate. we both dream about coming back to Taiwan everyday but the government makes it so damn difficult..

You find a job FIRST, which then gets you a work permit.

Then you get an ARC.

You don't get a work permit...which allows you to find work...then go job hunting. When you get a job the employer applies with the govt to get you a work permit. (since you seem to have the process somewhat backwards).

Once you get a work permit, you then apply for an ARC.

Have her teach English for 10 hours a week with a work permit and help you the rest of the time (it that legal? forgive me if it's not. I'm not sure on that part)

Present her as a partner in your business (which per your post is the truth anyways). It might require more capital to get both of you a work permit but I'm sure its doable. Ask your accountant about it.

I want to start up a limited company wich requires a capital of 500,000NT wich is doable,
in order to have an arc and workpermit for my girlfriend another type of company is required with a capital of 5million NT and a turnover of 10 million NT per year in order to renew our arc and workpermit but that is impossible for me as I don't have that kind of money and also quite impossible to make 10 million NT selling food and drinks...

500.000 ? That sounds a Lot for a Ltd!
Registrations for locals are merely 60 K.
What benefits do you get out of such an amount aside ARC and working permit?

But what other options do I have if I really want to be in Taiwan for a long time as a non-native english speaker?
I don't have the money to stay there and do nothing, I don't have the money to go overseas all the time for visa extensions and I don't have a Taiwanese wife. I currently work for DHL, I've already applied for 14 positions in Taiwan but I didn't receive 1 response, so what other options do I have? not much I guess...

Your girlfriend, as a foreigner, will need a work permit to work in Taiwan. You cannot offer that at this time through your intended company. One possible option that might allow her to work at the business legally would be for her to go to university here as university students have some limited working rights. It should be covered in other threads on here and I am not certain at the moment on the exact scope of those rights.
