transform a single entry visitor visa in a multiple one

Postby Florent » 15 Jul 2012, 00:01

Hi,

my case is a bit strange : I am in Taipei for a six-month internship and I have a single entry visitor Visa (this is the only one the Bureau de Representation de Taipei en France accepted to deliver me : since I was doing an internship shorter than 6 months, they cannot deliver me a resident Visa and for a visitor multiple-entry, they said me that they could not - I do not know why). I also have an authorization from the Taiwan's government for my internship (thanks to this one, I can extend my current visa).
My problem is that I would like to go abroad for one week end. If I leave Taiwan, I would need to apply for a new visa to come back. But in one week end, whatever is the country I will not be able to get a new Visa.

So do you know if it is possible to transform a single entry visa in a multiple one ? Or do you think about an other solution ?

Thank you.

PS : I am a French citizen. And I cannot entry in Taiwan without a Visa since I am doing an intership.

Multiple entry visas are possible to get. I just got mine after being told it's impossible. I wrote a letter explaining my unique situation and after several verbal requests I was granted a multiple entry visa. Persistence paid off.

Transforming a single entry to multiple? No. The old single entry needs to be cancelled (you'll have to leave Taiwan) and you'll have to re-apply for new multiple entry visa outside of Taiwan. Can only change a visitor's visa to a resident visa, as far as I know.

Good luck.

A visa on a weekend? Only in the Middle East as they have Thursday/Friday as day off ...
You could get one on a Friday in Hong Kong, express procedure but then you need to arrive/apply early before 11:00AM at the TECO or stay until Monday to pick it up. I have no idea if they still work on Saturday morning.

But I think you can't get a multiple without documents that state you can get one.

Hi, thank you for your answers.

I had tried to really insist (sending several e-mails, calling them and going to their office). I may have sent them a letter.

If my company is giving me a day-off, I will do but so far it is not planned :(

But there is something I do not understand : it is well the Taiwanese government which delivers the Visas ? So I may apply for a new one in Taiwan ?

Thank you.
