Can students with ARC get plans?

Postby yurizanoni » 02 Feb 2012, 12:41

Hello,

I study Chinese in NTNU and I will be getting my ARC next week. I was wondering if with my student ARC is possible or not to get a phone plan from one of the major companies in Taiwan? My goal is to save money and get a Galaxy Note by the way.

Thank you!

Yes. However, some phone shops can be weird. If they start grumbling, just go to a different shop. I've never had any problems with Taiwan Mobile (台灣大哥大). It does help to have a Taiwanese friend with you, though.

Your ARC validity has to be longer than the contract period, but yes, it should not be a problem as long as this is the case. The Xinyi locations of the major carriers (in the VieShow complex) are the best to go to for this. +1 on 台灣大哥大 being not a problem.

Hello yurizanoni.....

Why do you not just Facebook your NY friend and ask her? I heard tell that she went through this exact process two months ago with an ARC that is only valid until October. You have seen her pretty new iPhone, yes? ;)
