Computex Taipei 2012

Postby PapaAzucar » 05 Apr 2012, 10:23

Has anyone ever been to Computex Taipei in the past?
http://www.computextaipei.com.tw/
This year's Computex Taipei is June 5-9, 2012.
Any thoughts about attendance-worthy from an electronics consumer point of view?

You'll see a lot of concept tablets and ultrabooks from Taiwanese manufacturers that haven't been released (some may be prototypes that never see the light of the day). You'll also see smaller gadgets and such from companies looking for distribution deals.

Is there anything in particular you were hoping to see?

Showgirls! Showgirls! Showgirls! Last year I did not have any booth duty, just could invite some guys for a coffee into the cubical and then .... investigate .... um ... errr.... how competitors are presenting their booth. :D

An elderly Taiwanese had asked me if I was married. I was busy taking some ... errr.... evidence photos from a dance presentation. I mean, Marketing does need new ideas!
Or not.

They tend to be something of a "hit or miss"

This year should be pretty interesting as far as the portable computing is concerned though..
I've seen a lot of people walking around with various pads purchased China.

Nothing in particular, but was wondering if it was worth taking a day off to go check it out. Maybe the showgirls are worth it? :discodance:

But seriously, the June timing should coincide with a lot of Windows8 tablets releases, and maybe the Android Jellybean. Apple may be too stuck up to announce anything at a lowly Computex. Don't know if Computex Taipei is a good showcase or worth taking a day off to check it out?

If it's like previous years, it's only Saturday that's open to the public, AFAIK. Before that is industry and media only.

Showgirls is all people see, or should I say, the guys taking pics of the showgirls carry better equipment than the media. :fume:

If any new arrival needs assistance in Taipei, I can provide it in exchange for Star Trek or Supernatural (the TV series) stuff or other sci-fi materials. Let me know what help you need by PM, along with what you have to offer in return. And yes, I am serious.

Is anyone, at this point in time, able to verify this?
I have checked the, crappy, website of computex and so far I haven't been able to find anything about it.
I'm looking to go on the friday to ' beat the weekend-crouds' so I'm hoping it will be available for the public by then.
Thanks!

How can I get tickets without faking press credentials?
