What they are doing is stopping through-the-air broadcast of analog signals. Anyone receiving their signal through the air (like us - we don't have cable) will now need to use a digital-to-analog converter box. In fact, we've already had one for three years, so we're not affected by the change either.
Wow thats great! Thank you so much
But the government is pushing digital cable! Maybe they will stop the analog signal service to your TV. Already most cable companies are offering digital cable. They will give you a converter box that will allow you to watch those channels on a New HD TV or monitor via HDMI or standard composite video that you can view on your old TV.
I'm not sure the newer TV's that will have built in digital tuners will let you bypass the cable TV box for digital cable as our old analog tuners did for analog cable. They'd have to be able to accept a smart card that tells the tuner what channels you're entitled to receive.
