KBRO cutting channels

Postby Tempo Gain » 25 Jul 2012, 15:18

Saw today as of 7/28 they're going to pull History (but not History HD,) CI, and Bio (as they add the main local stations' new HD channels.) I called them to tell them I'll be going with MOD if they do so.

Re: Anyone using KBRO internet? Is it bad or is it just me?

I used Seednet when I first came to Taiwan, what a bloody mistake that was. Switched to Zhonghua and have never regretted it. They give you a static IP to "fix" international connections. I'd suggest using CHT.
Lost in Kaohsiung :D

Well.. they did that about ten years ago too. It wasn't Kbro then, I think it was Far East... wait.. it did become Kbro when they started dropping channels, I think.

It was great! There was Nick, 2 Yo Yo TV's one mostly in English, and several English Entertainment Channels.. One by one they all dropped.... For over a year my Digital Cable Box was just an expensive digital clock.

Been loving MOD since.. It could happen to Mod. When you join Mod.. Please tell them why you left and tell them what channels you like...
And please get a PVR as part of the package. I just can't watch the thing... too busy.

So that was the surprise message in the digibox yesterday ! :raspberry:
I counted 6 which we loose - so what else is out? TG, what was there response? I suppose we are committed to a contract with a fee for breaking it no?
I'd certainly switch to CHT if they offer the MOD box separately from the Cable connection I currently use.
Bio is great. almost no publicity and awesome series. Taiwan gliding back to local instead of International puff... so far goes "development" it seems.

TBC is adding channels but doesn't look like they're taking any out...

I believe 3.

They took my info and said they would tell their supervisor. This worked when they were going to drop ASN so there may be hope. Not sure about contract but I think one would be able to negotiate a penalty without cancellation under the circumstances.

Only thing MOD is missing for me is the DVR.

I called them about the dropped channels yesterday. At 12am, those three channels went dark and I promptly called the 24 hour hotline. The guy on the phone didn't even know what was going on, he thought it was some sort of outage. Then he talked to his supervisor and found out that the contracts with those channels have expired and that they were renegotiating. I let him know how I felt about this and he said that other customers have also complained and they are working on the situation.

Those three channels make up the bulk of my TV hours. Very interesting and fascinating stuff. Love the crime shows on CI, Asia Underworld, Forensic Investigators, Evil Up Close, Medical Detectives, True Crime, and the new series American Greed. Hopefully they get this sorted out quickly.
Born in Taiwan. Grew up in California. Graduated from Cal. State Fullerton in 2008. Studied Chinese for 3 semesters at Shi-Da. Decided to live in Taiwan so I joined the Taiwanese army as 替代役.

Glad to hear there's still hope!
