I'll be in Taiwan next month and I plan to buy a cheap smartphone in my country before I travel. I know I have the option to buy a phone there instead (I'm staying for about 2 years) but I don't think I'll have time to buy one immediately after I arrive. So I'll just bring a cheap phone I can use temporarily for navigation, translation and occasional browsing.
But how do I know if my phone actually works there? I plan to buy an unlocked phone in my country (and perhaps be on roaming) and I've read from some thread here that I just need to make sure it works in 2100MHz frequency. But phones work in different frequencies for calls, wifi, 3g, etc. Any other specs I need to know before buying an unlocked phone for use in Taiwan? Here are the frequencies for the phone I'm looking to buy:
- Code: Select all
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
UMTS: 900, 2100 MHz
Data: HSDPA 7.2 Mbit/s, UMTS, EDGE, GPRS
