SYM T2

Postby Rennes » 05 Jun 2012, 22:20

I would like to start a discussion looking specifically at the SYM T2. It appears that most on the forum have little experience with this bike, but I think it's worth sharing information about what we do know.

This is one of the only locally made 250cc bikes in Taiwan.
HP: 25
Cost
New: 150,000
Used: 120,000 - 130,000 (for 2011 as posted on ruten)

To my understanding, this bike was first introduced in 2011.

It is really difficult for me to find information with substance on this bike, since all literature on the subject is in Chinese.

Does anyone know about the engine, other than the fact that it's a 250cc? What kind of design and technology is it? Does it "appear" to be a well built/designed engine?

Are there any specific reports of problems on this bike?
If so, and they were remedied, that would mean the 2011 would still have any original problems, right?

I would love to get more information on this bike.

I dunno...I've driven several SYM's here, but there's something about the T2 that I don't trust. Of course I have nothing to back this on except my mech's opinion of the CBR150 wannabe, the Quannon.

Apparently with the 2011 models there were some small engine faults, not sure exactly what, but it's what I read... The most common issue or complaint I have heard about is that the front forks are way too soft....

Also, nothing mechanical, have also read about people saying the paint job isn't very good....

I have seen quite a few T1's around, they seem to get quite rusty.... i dunno, maybe the ones I have seen were just abused...

Used T2, 120 000? Sounds like you'd be better off going for a used Hornet 250, which is surely of a much higher build quality and superior performance. How much does a decent used Hornet 250 go for nowadays anyway? Surely less than 100K considering that they've been in Taiwan for a good 10 years now?

Honda Hornet 250s are listed on ruten for around 170,000, way higher than a used T2
