Forum rules
We hope that the Living in Taiwan forum will be of value to you and others. To ensure this, please note:
It is best to capitalize topics and to avoid vague titles. “Hi, I’m new” and “Help please” are examples of bad titles.
Before posting, please check the FAQ thread, and – more importantly – use the search function to ensure that your topic has not been discussed before and that there is not an existing thread you could update with your contribution.
While Living in Taiwan is a busy, wide-ranging forum, there are other specific forums for relationships, teaching, business, legal issues, animals, food, events, travel, restaurants, and so on. Check the Forumosa menu to find the most appropriate place for your post.
While it is preferable to post questions dealing with dissimilar topics in separate threads (“How Much for an Apartment in Tianmu?”, “Are There Many Foreigners in Tianmu?”), if you are a new arrival, it is possible to present numerous questions in one post, but realize that your thread will then, after two weeks, be merged into the New to Taiwan: Some Questions thread.

Wise guys
OK, who was not on Forumosa.com at the time of the robbery?
Odd that Costco pulls out its guards - or it's partly an insider job...

Oh. That's the one I use and I was thinking of going today. Maybe I'll wait for the excitement to die down.

And they labeled the thiefs ninjas...
Police look for ‘ninjas’ in Kaohsiung Costco robberyCLEAN GETAWAY:The thieves broke into display cases without setting off alarms, stealing jewelry, watches and electronics worth NT$4.07 million
Staff writer, with CNA
Investigators said that according to surveillance video footage, two suspects broke into the US company’s Dashun branch at about 2am, leaving at least one person outside as a lookout.
The suspects avoided the security system at the front gate by making an 80cm wide hole in the wall about 2m from the door, the police said.
The thieves broke into several display cases without triggering the alarms, stealing jewelry, watches and consumer electronics worth NT$4.07 million (US$136,200), the police added.
...
The investigators described the burglars as “ninjas,” because video footage showed them dressed completely in black and their faces covered with black masks.
“The warehouse is equipped with a security system. We do not know how they broke into the facility without triggering the alarm,” Costco marketing manager Wang Yu-mei (王友玫) was quoted as saying by the Chinese-language Liberty Times (the Taipei Times’ sister newspaper).
This is the first robbery at Costco since the company arrived in Taiwan 15 years ago. The Dashun branch opened in August last year.

You can do that, but you have to source organic peanuts first (or grow your own, of course). We sourced some, but they were too pricey -- the Costco organic PB would be much cheaper.

And how to go about it when standing with a full shopping card at the register being asked to pay another year or to leave without the shopping items.
Suing them? You are not being forced to renew your membership. They can suggest it and this can be declined.
As for the second, I know they have cards for a day ( available at their sign-up section upstairs if you go to Neihu)
Can you elaborate on that?
My wife just called them and inquired about that.
They don't have cards for the day.
