Forum rules
We hope that the Living in Taiwan forum will be of value to you and others. To ensure this, please note:

It is best to capitalize topics and to avoid vague titles. “Hi, I’m new” and “Help please” are examples of bad titles.

Before posting, please check the FAQ thread, and – more importantly – use the search function to ensure that your topic has not been discussed before and that there is not an existing thread you could update with your contribution.

While Living in Taiwan is a busy, wide-ranging forum, there are other specific forums for relationships, teaching, business, legal issues, animals, food, events, travel, restaurants, and so on. Check the Forumosa menu to find the most appropriate place for your post.

While it is preferable to post questions dealing with dissimilar topics in separate threads (“How Much for an Apartment in Tianmu?”, “Are There Many Foreigners in Tianmu?”), if you are a new arrival, it is possible to present numerous questions in one post, but realize that your thread will then, after two weeks, be merged into the New to Taiwan: Some Questions thread.

Scooter, the difference, and the fact I have to explain it to you suggests you went to the same kindergarten as Darkchild, is that I complained / complimented DJs based on listening to them. Darkchild, on the other hand, criticized me for not having constructive ideas and did so by citing a post of mine that did contain constructive ideas. The problem with this should be pretty clear, that is, if you're still reading this far and not already writing your reply based on the first three words of my post.

Dude, I've read that quote several times. Where's the constructive bit? Am I to assume you mean diversity is the answer to ICRT's ills, tuning into the market research angle that is forumosa? what exactly? I know you well enough to know you were not slamming anybody, but were infact being positive, no doubt had a pleasant grin on your face. All thats amusing, good for boosting the immune system...if thats what you mean, but its got nothing to do with constructive comment.

I know Darkchilds voice and facial reactions well enough too, to know that he was only defending what he thought was an attack, not crriticizing.

Come now boys. Touch gloves and back to your corners. Come out fighting.

HS: Yes. You are right. This was actually not aimed so much at you as it was at some of the other people here. I figure your comments to darkchild could just as easily be shared with many of the forumosans that share your viewpoint!

Is this better phrasability?:

As for Hakkasonic's comment... yeah, you can bitch about all of the ICRT DJs who have not read all the postings on forumosa. That's totally fair. But I wonder how many forumosans other than you have listened to all the programs on ICRT?

And aren't you the sassy one with your little kindergarten comment. Weren't you the guy in the corner drinking milk with his nose??

A quart a day keeps the doctor away.

Thinking about this whole thread, though, it would be fun to have some tag-team wrestling, WWF-style, between ICRT DJs and Forumosans:

Jeff "U" Locker and Rowdy Ronnie Stuart vs Alien and Alleycat

or,

Rockin' Richie Walker and Jacques "the Rock" Wersh vs Cranky "Crusher" Laowai and Tigerrrrrr-man

Pay-per-view!

Speaking of the BBC, how come I can sometimes pick up BBC from time to time. My wife claims to have found it again yesterday, but I haven't checked yet. I'd much rather have BBC on the radio than ICRT (and on the TV instead of CNN).

I have news. Good news from Notting Hill. The consignment of white gold for Mr Anderson has arrived.

Somebody once posted a link to a Taiwan schedule for BBC World Service. There's a whole bunch of frequencies that broadcast for about an hour at various times of the day. I'll take a look at the BBC website later this evening and see if I can find the schedule.
Anyway, Internet radio has rendered the whole ICRT nonsense redundant. Dweebs broadcasting to dweebs, they deserve each other.

I'm tuned in to Australian radio all day via this link:

http://www.abc.net.au/streaming/

Watch out for the ABC regional unless of course you fancy weird shit from the back of beyond.

Still. I do pine for a decent local station. Yet to find one in Chinese or English.

Hakka, about an hour after arriving at my kindergarten class I was promoted so I missed that experience but,I'm sure you're in your own adorable way trying to attack my intelligence.
Since you've never given me a quiz or,corrected any of my howework I can't imagine how you feel you have that right.

What I am enjoying right now is how much your defending your alleged suggestions to improve ICRT.At one point I thought I would give you the benefit of a doubt and,go back and, review but, naaaahhhh, since you feel that is going to sway the fact that your just overly opinionated I'm not about to do that now.

Besides if they were that good I would have noticed the first time.I do remember you praising Rick Monday a bit in that post but, that would'nt be a hard guess since that is the only program you've listened to at any length anyway.Oh and,I'm not blaming you for that.Listen to what you like but, just like a bookreport it would'nt make sense to say anything about the book unless you read it...
So,this horse comes into the bar and has a seat. The bartender comes over and says,

Didn't ICRT use to broadcast the BBC news between 6 and 7 am? Rather too early for most people, I'm sure.
