We hope that the Living in Taiwan forum will be of value to you and others. To ensure this, please note:

It is best to capitalize topics and to avoid vague titles. “Hi, I’m new” and “Help please” are examples of bad titles.

Before posting, please check the FAQ thread, and – more importantly – use the search function to ensure that your topic has not been discussed before and that there is not an existing thread you could update with your contribution.

While Living in Taiwan is a busy, wide-ranging forum, there are other specific forums for relationships, teaching, business, legal issues, animals, food, events, travel, restaurants, and so on. Check the Forumosa menu to find the most appropriate place for your post.

While it is preferable to post questions dealing with dissimilar topics in separate threads (“How Much for an Apartment in Tianmu?”, “Are There Many Foreigners in Tianmu?”), if you are a new arrival, it is possible to present numerous questions in one post, but realize that your thread will then, after two weeks, be merged into the New to Taiwan: Some Questions thread.

Car badge modification ~ The newest ridiculous fad to hit Taiwan?

Postby Northcoast Surfer » 28 Jun 2012, 13:34

Listen up sports fans. I'm predicting a new fad is about to overtake Taiwan!

In the past two days I've seen what I am predicting will be the next ridiculous fad to hit Taiwan. Remember a few years ago when the Taiwanese started putting European license plate frames on their cars to make them look "cool"?

What's with the EU Plates?

Garish EU Plates

Well, now it appears that car badge modification to make it look like a devil with a pitchfork is the in thing to do now. In just two days I've already seen three examples of this newest badge modification fad. Two were done to the Mazda badge and one was done to a Nissan badge. I'm sure that some very "creative" individuals will come up with many other ideas besides the devil horns in the near future, too. Cars are so cool!

What is it that I'm talking about exactly? Here's an example. Isn't this just the end? I mean....wow!

This guy's really got his ride stylin' with not only the newest devil horns and pitchfork, but also with the Europlate frame, too! Ooooh.....aaaah. That's so frickin' cool! BTW.....when did Japan join the European Union? :loco:

Hah. Shows how little YOU know. "J" is the EU code for Jermany. That's a small east European country that used to be owned by Russia but became independent when the Nazi party took over. The president is called Adolph Hitler. Taiwanese students are very diligent and spend many more hours on their geography homework than you Americans, so please don't argue.

Seriously? AFAIK the international code "J" does mean Japan. I suppose Jersey might have its own designator, but since it's not a country (or an EU state), it seems unlikely.

EDIT: I just looked it up. Apparently the official code for Jersey is "GBJ".

I've never really understood why guys (and I'm assuming it is a guy thing) are so interested in cars. Some Australian guys do all sorts of stupid shit - buy shiny magnesium wheels, make the engines louder, install ridiculously sized stereo systems, get blue headlights etc etc - and then drive around the city all night long (where there are 60kph speed limits and lots of police) looking at girls. Seems an arduous way to get pussy.

Cars are fucking boring.

:D

Now, where did I put my Cornish pasty. :ponder:

God, there is a 40ish woman next door with a Hello Kitty Yaris. In most other countries this would get you institutionalized. :loco:
Jesus Quintana: Let me tell you something, pendejo. You pull any of your crazy shit with us, you flash a piece out on the lanes, I'll take it away from you, stick it up your ass and pull the fucking trigger 'til it goes "click."
The Dude: Jesus.
Jesus Quintana: You said it, man. Nobody fucks with the Jesus.

Mr.Lahey: The shitabyss!
Randy: Mr. Lahey, not another night of the shitabyss, please?!
Mr.Lahey: Ah, fuck it.

You know she paid premium for that Hello Kitty decor? It's limited edition. And I am serious, really.

Eh, I know it's a silly question, but modifying the car bagde, isn't that against some copyright law?

If any new arrival needs assistance in Taipei, I can provide it in exchange for Star Trek or Supernatural (the TV series) stuff or other sci-fi materials. Let me know what help you need by PM, along with what you have to offer in return. And yes, I am serious.

*anatarcticbeech googling Yaris*

Oh God, can she have it removed? At first I thought you said, "Hello Kitty fetish". Not sure which is worse. Either way, expressing your femininity with an orificeless pussy seems kinda weird.

And institutionalized? Taiwan IS an institution!
