Super Hans wrote:It depends what you want to achieve. If you are after macro shots then take the shots as you would any other insect. If you want individual shots of the insects then early evening would be a good to view them, as some of them will be flashing but there will still be enough daylight around to show up the features of the insect - so in effect you pick out insect detail and the light the insect emits.
If you are after light trails, then you'll need probably a large f stop but a longer exposure and you'll definitely need a tripod. However, then you start getting in to the realms of iso and noise, of which the effects are particular to individual cameras.
Just experiment and see what you get.
