Buy EXPENSIVE, Rent CHEAP, why?

Can a foreigner buy...? Can a foreigner rent...? What about deposits? Bad neighbors? Unreasonable landlords? Miscellaneous problems?

Do you guys get rental insurance? I wonder if I should get it just to be safe.

Your gas mane on your balcony has a valve that you can shut if you are worried. It's usually at about waist level on the adjoining pipe from the meter into the house/to the water heater. I have left mine for a month to six weeks at a time with no troubles.

Renter's insurance? Not sure why you would want to. The landlord should already have property insurance which is ridiculously cheap here. Covers stuff like fire and water damage. What could really happen while you were away that would be your responsibility? Nothing, in my estimation.

Renter's insurance in the US covers your personal property.

I understand: Content insurance for your personal property or valuables. But if ironfist was concerned about that, wouldn't he have acquired it upon moving in? My take is that he's worried about the dwelling being left vacant for a month or so, in which case, the only cause for concern might be theft which is altogether quite a low risk if you live in a high rise with even modest security.
