Hi,

Digging this post since I've long been a big RC car enthusiast (1/8 on-road) and I haven't found many tracks in Taiwan (1 in Sanchong, 1 in Dajia near Taichung).

Can people in the know help me locate some tracks worth going? Anyone on Formosa into the hobby?

I'm in Taipei but I have a car (a real scale one I mean), I don't mind driving far from the big city...

I also took up RC heli recently (TREX 500), still in the gosh-it's-hard stage of hovering on my simulator and getting a bit of help from the Taiwanese dudes at the Muzha airfield (the only airfield I know).

Kind of get the feeling that a lot of the RC gear is made in Taiwan, but the hobby itself is not a big thing here. I realize that it is not cheap but it amazes me a little. Or perhaps it's just that I suck at finding the right spots !

Cheers,

Laurent

Thanks. Would you have some directions to give me for getting to the one located South of Shulin please?

Hey Laurent, we gotta get together, there's 3 of us that go out driving most Saturday afternoons. Usually go to Sanchung (Sanchong) but been to Shulin too. Can't give directions though, saved it in gps. Where do you shop for cars and gear?

Would be great to get together yes ! I was somehow disappointed in Sanchong that there is no electric current or that there is no roof to protect from the sun for example, but the layout is good, and as long as there's people going there, it's cool.

Would love to check out the track in Shulin.

Well let me know, either by being so kind as to give me the GPS coordinates or... else :)

Looking forward to racing together!

Oh, and regarding my RC shopping habits, well I haven't found a great deal of well-stocked shops in Taiwan, so I bought most of my stuff in Tokyo where I lived before (great shops there)...

Cheers.

Sanchong (Wugu) track. I think this is the coo-ordinates 25.06716,121.47163

And heres the google maps link as close as I could get, standing in the intersection looking at the toll booth for the track. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=25.06716, ... 7,,3,-0.33

And here are my best results for the Shulin Track. 24.966787, 121.387714‎
+24° 58' 0.43", +121° 23' 15.77"
It's in the end corner of a public park and you have to ask the gatekeeper to let you through with your gear but he's OK.

Hope this makes sense

There was about a half dozen 1/5 scale monster trucks tearin up the grass in Sanchung (Sanchong) last Saturday. I'm kinda hopin they dig up a dirt oval to burn around on. Weather permitin I'll be there next Saturday afternoon. Gear up and come on out.

I just finished restoring my childhood RC car, a Tamiya Thunder Shot. I heard from a shop that there's a place in Neihu where people go to drive these things, but the directions were vague. Does anyone know anything about it?

And Muzha has an airfield and people into RC helis? I just got myself an RC helicopter and I'm starting to feel severely restricted by the low ceiling of my apartment building's parking lot. When and where exactly do the guys meet in Muzha?
